My Carriers
Oscha Léana Abigail ring sling
- Material: 81% cotton, 19% hemp; 289 GSM
- Colorway: Meadow scene on ombré gold, royal blue, and deep pink.
- Age: newborn* to toddler
- Description: Gorgeous and strong enough to hold a heavy toddler; perfect for quick ups & downs in a hip carry. My absolute favorite carrier. The design speaks to my heart because it emulates the kind of nature scene you’d find in my hometown. It is one that I’d like keep forever (“perma-stash”) and I’d love to use it with future grandchildren or keep as an heirloom. *This sling will be better for newborns once it is fully broken in (which takes forever with hemp). It’s also harder to get a good fit on newborns with a thick wrap material like this.
- Use: I usually only pack this instead of a stroller whenever we go to the zoo, a museum, or social events. R asks to snuggle in it when she wants to feel close to me.
Didymos DidyGo onbuhimo carrier
- Material: 100% Organic Cotton; 250 GSM
- Colorway: Rusty red
- Age: 15lbs (or independently sitting) to 45lbs
- Description: This structured carrier has no waistband, so it was perfect to use with my pregnant belly this summer. It allows the wearer to comfortably carry older babies and toddlers like a little backpack, or like a piggy-back ride. It allows for front carry as well.
- Use: I loved it for street festivals and crowded events where I knew I’d be wearing Rosemary for longer stretches. It will be great for hiking in the spring!
Almitra Tattva Marisa White and Kalindi ring slings
- Material: 85% merino wool, 15% cashmere; 210 GSM
- Colorway: Marisa White - lilac, blue, and pink paisley on white base. Kalindi - rust red, gold, and dark brown paisley and floral patterns on black base.
- Age: newborn to toddler*
- Description: Super thin and soft—perfect for wrapping a newborn. They will keep her warm this winter and cool in the summer. They are gorgeous as well! The manufacturer had a glitch in processing, so customer service sent me two slings instead of one. I originally just wanted Kalindi, but the Marisa White has grown on me and I like it better now. *While you could use these for a toddler in a tight pinch, the thinness would not support them very well; better for smaller babies.
- Use: Ring slings in general are great for quick ups & downs, so I use these around the house when making breakfast/lunch, or I pack them for short errands.
Girasol Arctic Rainbow woven wrap
- Material: 100% cotton; approx 228 GSM
- Colorway: Horizontal rainbow stripes in twill weave
- Age: newborn to toddler/kid
- Description: I chose this secondhand wrap because this brand and the multicolor rails are known for being great for beginners. The different colored rails help the wearer tell where to tighten. The beauty of a woven wrap is that you can custom fit it to your body and carry your baby in hundreds of different styles. So far I’ve only tried the front wrap cross carry (FWCC), but it is incredibly comfortable and supportive.
- Use: L will sleep in a FWCC on me for hours. I put her up in it after I feed her, want her to sleep, need to be hands free, and/or I want a symmetrical carry if I want to wear a coat over it. I’m excited to try different carries with it as L gets older! (It’s possible to use with R too, but she was not patient enough to let me figure out a back carry with her this past summer.)
